The “Affirm 2025 University Challenge” is an initiative launched by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to encourage American universities to increase the number of low-income students, first-generation students, and students of color who graduate with a bachelor’s degree by 2025.
The challenge is based on the idea that a college education is essential for economic and social mobility, but that too many low-income students, first-generation students, and students of color face barriers that prevent them from succeeding in college. The challenge provides funding and support to universities that are committed to increasing the graduation rates of these students.
