The Head of the Charles Regatta (HOCR) is the world’s largest 3-day regatta, hosting nearly 11,000 athletes from over 65 countries in more than 2,000 races. Held annually on the Charles River in Boston, Massachusetts, the HOCR is considered the pinnacle of collegiate rowing in the United States and attracts some of the top international crews as well.
The HOCR was first held in 1965 with just 14 colleges and has grown exponentially since then. Today, the regatta features races for a wide range of boat classes, including singles, doubles, fours, and eights. The HOCR is also known for its challenging 3-mile course, which winds through the scenic Boston cityscape.
